Casa Muelle de Piedras

VILLA LA ANGOSTURA
Set on a sloping site with outstanding views of Lake Nahuel Huapi, the house was raised above the level of the hillside in order to capture the best panoramic views of the lake and the mountain range.

Based on this premise, the house is organized on a linear floor plan 25 meters in length, elevated above the ground and leaving below a large semi-covered space conceived as an outdoor quincho, with views of the Andean-Patagonian forest. The support points of the upper floor are defined by the barbecue area and service zones.

The volume cantilevers on all four sides, with foundations anchored through a system of caisson footings reaching the mountain rock.

Access is via a bridge leading to a fully glazed cold lobby that frames views of the lake and also contains the staircase descending to the quincho.

The linear layout organizes the bedrooms and living-dining area along one side facing the lake, while the bathrooms and kitchen are placed against the hillside.
The curved roof, with a circular geometry that complies with the slope requirements of the local building code, gives the house both longitudinal continuity in form and transverse continuity, as it extends outward over a balcony made of metal and wood structure.

The house engages with the landscape in a dynamic way, by day and by night, in summer and in winter, through an innovative proposal for the area that nevertheless deeply respects the condition of the site.
